Artistic trainings
At Strate, we give first priority to drawing: it is the essence of the designer’s expression.
Throughout their curriculum, our students practice many artistic techniques, with professors who are also professionals:
• Drawing: analytical drawing (observing), perspective, descriptive geometry (building), sketching (explaining), illustration (translating), life drawing (expressing oneself).
• Volume: modelling (feeling), sculpture (shaping), model making (showing), prototyping (making things work, validating).
• Culture and history: history of art (major trends, schools of thought), history of design (the object in its historical and social context) and history of industry (major benchmarks of industrial conception).
As each writer has his own style, every designer, through drawing, looks for a sensitive expression reflecting his own personality and originality. What is important is how one looks at an object, not the object itself.
