Fire bears witness to our
civilization’s evolution. Yesterday at the heart of the household, fire was
first domesticated, then sanitized, before disappearing completely. Fire has
gone out along with its imaginary world and its warmth, taking away the
household’s soul. After this recent extinction, Guillaume Lefrançois has
thought about how to give back to fire its original place in our household; his
solution is called Vesta.
Taking his inspiration from the
various situations when men meet around a fire for « warm » moments,
such as on the beach or in the evening, François has created an object able to
restore two kinds of « warmth »: this of the fire, very real, and also
the more symbolical warmth of moments of happiness.
Designed as a lotus flower, Vesta can open on a
gentle and reassuring flame, but it can also display pictures taken earlier
while diffusing delicate fragrances. Laid on a carpet sensitive to human
presence, Vesta then becomes aware of it too. In its
own way, Vesta has invented the art of designing the home of the third
millennium.
