In the nineties, the civil air traffic
has considerably developed. The development of tourism, competition and the fall
in costs are the main causes of increase of the number of people taking planes.
Yet the interior architecture of planes has changed very little, especially
the spaces for the passengers and the crew. If customers have to stay in
their seats most of the time, there is still not enough space for them to relax
or exercise a minimum. How then is it possible to improve the passengers’
comfort, and reduce occupational diseases contracted by the crew ?
In+Out,
Kuang-Chan’s answer is two-fold. Leaving aside the seat’s design, he has
endeavoured to work on the food-trolley used by the hostesses, so as to make
them easier to use and to put away. By making it foldable, he has made it
possible to put it away somewhere else than in the usual “Office”. It is then
possible to transform the Office, once the meals have been served, into a
relaxation area for the passengers. Relaxing carpet, lighting effects and
aromatherapy: everything has been thought to confer a feeling of liberty and
calm.
