In an extremely industrialized world, where products are produced in
mass, identically, people paradoxically endeavour to differentiate themselves,
giving personal touches to their universe. Gregory Blanchet has therefore
decided to work on that paradox. How can a mass-produced car let its driver’s
personality express itself? How can one appropriate a car, even
for a moment, for the time of a journey? Immerged – and fed – in the Japanese
society, Gregory Blanchet has imagined, with NÔ car, a car concept both poetic and
realistic, fun and minimalist.
A unique vehicle for everybody but of one’s own. Gregory mainly
took his inspiration from Japanese traditions, and especially from the Nô
theatrical movement. Like a Nô mask, his car can express the various facets
of its driver’s personality, playing with elements such as light, naturally
balanced imbalance and harmony, particular to traditional Japanese
culture. In Nô, the inside of the mask is literally the
interface between the actor and his character. With this metaphor, Gregory has
conceived the inside of the car like the interface of communication with its
driver, thanks to which all personalization will be done. The car’s body is
also a screen on which are displayed the driver’s personality, thanks to graphic
elements.
